MaCDA Joins Global Call to Action: Commemorating the 16 Days of Activism Against Digital Gender-Based Violence

The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is a pivotal global campaign observed annually from November 25th (International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women) to December 10th (Human Rights Day). Established in 1991 by the Center for Women’s Global Leadership (CWGL), this initiative raises awareness, mobilizes communities, and advocates for policies to eliminate Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in all its forms. The campaign is globally supported by individuals, governments, and organizations, with approximately 25 local partners, including UNMISS, UNFPA, Oxfam, and MaCDA, participating in the commemoration.

This year’s observance focused critically on digital abuse, guided by the following themes:

  • Global Theme: “Unite to end digital violence against all women and girls.”
  • National Theme: “Protect Women and Girls from digital abuse and exploitation.”
  • State (CES) Theme: “Act now! End digital abuse and Exploitation against women and girls in CES.”

MaCDA is dedicated to promoting community resilience through community-led responses in FSL, WASH, GBV, and protection. The organization consistently integrates protection and GBV components through training on PSEA (Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse), basic GBV and referral pathways, and implementing Complaint and Feedback Mechanisms (CFMs).
